If you are preparing to take the GED test in the future, it is vital to study and prepare as much as possible so that you are successful. The GED test is broken into various parts, to test the different areas of education. One of the required parts of the test is the writing section. The writing portion of the test consists of 50 multiple choice questions. There is a time limit of 75 minutes to complete this section, which gives testes roughly 1.5 minutes to answer each question.
The writing portion of this test will examine several components of writing, including grammar, phrasing, punctuation, spelling and sentence structure. Testers will have to identify the correct ways to formulate different documents such as office memos and reports, how-to texts such as directions or travel arrangements, and informal documents such as essay papers or a short thesis.
Being able to recognize and identify the correct answer is, of course, a big deal. However, multiple-choice questions can be very tricky. Here is an example of the type of questions testers can expect to see:
- My mom a teacher says, education is very important.
a. my mom a teacher says, education is very important.
b. my mom, a teacher, says education is very important.
c. my, mom a teacher says education is very important.
d. my mom, a teacher says, education is very important.
In this question, sentence revision is the objective. A portion of the sentence has an error that should be corrected or revised to make the sentence better. The tester must then choose the correct answer, which is the correct way to write the sentence. In this example the right answer is (b). It is important to notice and remember that in these questions, the first answer choice is always the exact same as the original question. It is also important to note that there will be times where no change is required, so be able to recognize this without being confused.
There are many textbooks and websites that provide very helpful study tips and guides so that you will be successful when taking the test. The important thing to remember is to be confident and do your best. Just believe in yourself and you’ll surely be successful.
